About 10 years ago, during a family holiday in Agulhas, we bought some paint and brushes from the local craft shop in Struisbaai, the kids picked up small smooth rocks and the family started painting rocks.
It was great fun and I packed our art supplies away until our next Agulhas weekend.
During lockdown, I unpacked my art supplies on our dining room table and never packed it away again!
We live in a complex and I started placing my painted rocks in my neighbour’s gardens (no sticker or tag).
The response on our neighbourhood chat was amazing and I realised this small gesture, that did not cost much but time, can mean so much to
people.
I discovered Rock Paint and that just took my rock painting to the next level.
I fell in love with all the beautiful colours and I must have painted every possible combination under the sun!
I place rocks where ever I go!
On a Sunday mornings, my husband and I go out on our motorbike and we take about 20 rocks every time we ride.
My wonderful husband got a special carry bag that you attach to the motorbike for easy access to a rock.
We go all over the Western Cape and in a different direction every weekend.
On our adventures we often come across other bikes parked outside restaurants and coffee shops.
I always look to see if it looks like there is a passenger (pillion) on the bike (you can see by the back foot pegs)
I then place a rock on the pillion seat.
I have had so many beautiful motorbike posts on the Cape Town Rocks Group.
The biker posts are very special and close to my heart.
